The Hernandezes -
We Came from South of the Border
My grandmother, Maria Hernandez del Rio, was born in the small town of Chavinda in the municipality of Chavinda, Michoacán.
While there are many gaps in the family history here - we do have some real treasures which have given us an insight int the family and life during/after the Mexican Revolution: letters written from Chavinda between 1914 to 1944. You will find them posted as separate/individual pages under 'MORE', listed by date written and author.

The gal with me is cousin Irma Hernandez (I do not remember her 2nd surname!); she is a 1st cousin of my mother. She is one of the Hernandezes who still live in the family home in Chavinda, Michoacán. She helped Mom and I track down Mom's mother's baptism record - here we are holding it! We were not able to take photos inside.
